SACO, Maine — Project AWARE, a local youth empowerment program, will host its 2012 Summer Film Institute Aug. 13-17. The institute is open to youth ages 13 to 18. Beginner and advanced attendees may attend.
Young people in the program create high quality movies that address social issues. the film will be marketed to raise awareness of the issue the film depicts.
Films created during the institute have covered the issues of peer pressure, teen pregnancy, role modeling, parent relationships, bullying and sexual assault.
Attendees will be advised by youth and adult leaders from Project AWARE and film and editing professionals from Gum Spirits Productions, and will receive a copy of the final product.
