Press Release

Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force to meet March 13

We are clearly seeing a spike in substance abuse in Knox County. Heroin use is increasing, meth labs are being discovered, marijuana is becoming legal, teen drinking parties continue, some businesses are selling to minors. Fortunately we have a good number of organizations and individuals who are working hard to stem the problem.

The Knox County Community Health Coalition, a Healthy Maine Partnership is proposing a substance abuse task force to get many hands involved and coordinated especially around teen use of substances. Please join us for our first meeting of the Knox County Substance Abuse Task Force.

The agenda will include a brief overview of problems specific to Knox County and then development of a plan 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13, with March 20 as a snow date, at Rockland City Hall, 270 Pleasant St. Refreshments. Parents, teens, professionals and concerned citizens invited.
