BREWER, Maine — The Brewer Music Department will host a series of concerts at the new Brewer Performing Arts Center through June 4.
The Brewer Community School spring concert will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31. This event will include performances by the grades six through eight concert band and the grades six through 12 choir.
David Mallett and his band will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, June 1. Mallett’s career spans four decades, and his music has traveled to all corners of the world. His songs have been recorded by more than 150 artists, including Pete Seeger, Alison Krauss, John Denver, Emmylou Harris and the Muppets, and his “Garden Song” has become an American folk classic.
He has performed throughout America and Europe. The Bangor Daily News recognized him as one of the 58 most memorable Mainers of the 20th Century and the readers of FOLKWAX honored him with both 2003 Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for “Artist in Me”.
Tickets for the event are $25 and may be purchased 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday at Brewer High School. Tickets may be reserved by calling the box office at 989-4140, ext. 118.
The Brewer High School woodwind quartet and brass quintet directed by senior Kevin Schaefer will perform 1-2 p.m. Sunday, June 3. At 3 p.m. Kristin Daigle will perform her senior recital on trumpet. The concert will feature a jazz combo in a variety of musical styles.
Monday, June 4th the series will close with the Brewer High School spring concert Monday, June 4, featuring the concert choir and concert band. Admission is $3, $2 students and seniors at the door.
