MOUNT DESERT, Maine — A little rain could not keep the animal lovers and their pets from participating in the fourth annual SPCA Pet Show & Fair on Sunday. Hundreds of people and their pets attended the fun-filled community event at the Mount Desert Elementary School’s ball field. Over twenty pet-related booths featured various products and information under the big tent.
SPCA volunteer Deborah McFarland brought Sunny a lovely 11 year old senior dog to the event. Sunny especially enjoyed the chicken stock sno-cones. There were also several kittens that were available for adoption.
Gary and Barb Simons again coordinated dog agility demonstrations that were outstanding. Jay and Jenn McNally’s piglet Linus was a favorite among the guests. Colleen Vallee of 2 Dogs-n-a Rooster brought an assortment of Bantam hens, Itty Bitty the rooster, and Bambi the dog. Each chicken behaved perfectly as the children were able to hold, pet and lead them on little leashes.
The bake sale coordinated by Michele and Charlie Croan generated over $900 and was the most successful to date! Dogs of all shapes, breeds, and sizes were on their best behavior and all of the animals took part in Pet Parade and Show with judges Jennifer Skiff and Genie Murray.
