BREWER, Maine — Solidarity Harvest, a program of sourcing local food to provide Thanksgiving meals to laid off workers and families in hard times, will distribute more than 1,000 meals to families across the state next weekend.
Volunteers will sort food for the meals from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Friday, Nov. 16 through Monday, Nov. 19, at the Solidarity Center in Brewer. Additional volunteers are welcome to sort, carry, load and deliver meals.
Matching contributions for the McTeague/Higbee law firm match grant and donations of $30, $60 or $90 to sponsor Thanksgiving meals will be accepted until Thursday, Nov. 15, and can be sent to Food AND Medicine, 20 Ivers St., Brewer, Maine 04412.
Solidarity Harvest is organized by Food AND Medicine, the Eastern Maine Labor Council and the Western Maine Labor Council.
