AUGUSTA, Maine — In what has become an annual tradition, the seventh-graders of St. Michael Catholic School will head to the Maine Veterans’ Home on Dec. 14 for a morning of singing, visiting and celebrating with the residents.
John Hickey, a teacher at the school for nearly 40 years, started the tradition 11 years ago when his father lived at the home.
St. Michael music teacher Marcia Gallagher prepared the seventh-grade class for the visit and will lead the students in singing Christmas carols. The students will present the veterans with cards and small ornaments.
For information on covering the event, call Janet Galati, principal at St. Michael School, at 207-622-3491.
