Sea Glass at Inn by the Sea recognized by Wine Spectator Magazine

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine – The ocean view Sea Glass Restaurant at Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth has again been awarded the prestigious Wine Spectator Magazine’s Award of Excellence for 2014 for the restaurant’s commitment to a fine and extensive wine list, announced Carrie Dyer, the Inn’s General Manager. Sea Glass was recognized for particular strengths in California and French wines, but wines are selected from around the world, and local vineyards are also well represented.

Sea Glass pairs wines in both price and thematic focus to their seasonally changing menus, offering guests over 420 selections and an inventory over 2,400 bottles in their wine cove. The awards will be listed in the August 2014 Wine Spectator issues.

Restaurants are recognized if their wine selections have broad appeal and offer interest, are appropriate to the menu selections, and also provide complete information on producers, vintage and appellations to their clientele, according to Wine Spectator. Wine dinners offered in the ocean view restaurant go beyond the award requirements providing education and experience throughout the year.

Executive Chef Mitchell Kaldrovich celebrates all things Maine in Sea Glass with produce fresh from local farms and the sea. Whether dining al fresco on the outdoor decks or inside in the intimate dining room, the chef’s menus embody his passion for food and wine, resulting in an extensive collection and impressive variety of bottles on view in the wine cove. Guests are welcome to personally visit the cove before making a selection.

“We carefully generate our wine list to complement Sea Glass menus which change to work with what is growing locally, or is being caught fresh from the Gulf of Maine. Light and crisp for seafood, fuller and more robust for game or beef help create a more complete experience.” said the chef.

About Chef Mitchell Kaldrovich: The chef enjoys celebrating all things Maine in the new ocean view Sea Glass at Inn by the Sea, on Crescent Beach in Maine. American born, but raised in Argentina chef enjoyed cooking as a young boy under his grandmother’s direction. His career began at Galani Restaurant, a Four Star restaurant in Buenos Aires. He then worked at the L’Orangerie Restaurant in West Hollywood, The Duck Club in Monterey, California, the La Palma D’Or in the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables Florida, and the Llao Llao Hotel & Resort in Patagonia. Prior to opening Sea Glass at Inn by the Sea in 2008, he was Executive Chef at Plump Jack Café in Squaw Valley California. The chef was invited to cook at the James Beard House in New York in 2010 and 2013.
