
HAMPDEN, Maine - Teachers and students at SAD #22 will plant in new hoop house school garden at 12:05 p.m. Friday,
May 18.
Plants have been started in classrooms and will be transplanted this Friday afternoon in the school garden. Reeds Brook students in Jen Bowman-Mckay’s classroom will plant cheery tomatoes, golden tomatoes, peppers, and chives. Reeds Brook Students in Michele Freeman’s classroom will plant spinach, lettuce, parsley, and dill. Weatherbee Students in Donna Megquier’s classroom will plant beans. And Weatherbee Students in Jen Jones classroom will plant lettuce and radishes.
The Hoop House School Garden located at Reeds Brook Middle School was erected last June. Vegetables grown in the hoop house will supplement the school lunch program, encourage healthy snack choices, and help our students develop a love of gardening through an educational experience they will always treasure.
