Rotary Club holds annual dinner

ROCKPORT — The Samoset Resort was the location for the annual dinner on June 27 of the West Bay Rotary Club.

Sandy Cox of Windjammer Realty, accompanied by his wife Michelle, was  inaugurated as the president of West Bay Rotary for the year beginning July 1. He succeeds Troy Curtis, executive director of the Penobscot Bay YMCA, who served since July 2011.

The prestigious honor of a Paul Harris Fellow award was awarded to Connie Perret, wife of member Etienne Perret, West Bay Rotary member and 2012-13 assistant district governor for District 7790.

Officers for the upcoming year are Tim Dresser, vice president; Jane Lafleur, president-elect; and Steven Dailey, treasurer.

West Bay Rotary also celebrated the addition of 10 new members during the past year, and successful fundraising and community projects were conducted,  including the new play equipment at the Marge Jones Recreational Facility in Rockport, E Waste disposal project, Christmas Tree sales, Toboggan Championships Chowder and Chili Challenges and parking, and the Duck Derby. All fund raising proceeds benefit charitable organizations in the community.
