AUBURN, Maine — The Maine Blues Society, a non-profit entity, will be hosting a competition for Maine Blues bands and solo/duo acts at the “Road to Memphis” contest to be held noon-6 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the American Legion Post 31, at 426 Washington St. Winners will be eligible to compete in the 2014 International Blues Competition in Memphis.
In order to participate, at least one member of a competing band or solo/duo act must be a current member of the Maine Blues Society as of May 3, 2013. In order to join the society, contact President Duane Little at: firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Friday May 3rd.
There will be two categories of contestants: Blues Bands, and Blues Solo or Duo acts. The rules of the May 19 competition are based on the International Blues Foundation’s rules and format. It is strongly recommended that everyone planning to participate in the event read the Blues Foundation rules and format prior to the event. The rules can be be found at:
Winners of the Road to Memphis contest will be eligible to participate in the annual International Blues Competition (IBC) in Memphis Tennessee in 2014. It will be the 30th anniversary of the International Blues Competition, featuring acts from around the world. Dates of the 2013 IBC contest are: Jan. 21-25.
