BANGOR, Maine — As part of a state-wide effort to introduce more movement into school curriculum, the Penquis Public Health District has partnered with Recess Rocks! to train ‘Movement Instructors’ to work closely with faculty and staff at local schools to incorporate easy and fun classroom and hallway movement activities into their lesson plans.
Training will be held 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 and Friday, Sept. 21 at the Bangor Parks and Recreation Department, 647 Main St.
The District also plans to incorporate Recess Rocks movements and activities into special school events such as field days, assemblies and Spirit Weeks. The goal is to integrate Recess Rocks into all schools across the Penquis Public Health District within the next five years.
This opportunity is sponsored by the Penquis District Community Transformation Grant in collaboration with other community partners.
