BLUE HILL, Maine — The Blue Hill Public Library announced that Paint the Peninsula, a “fresh paint silent auction” will be held 4:30-7 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the Library. More than 60 artists will start that day with blank canvases and transform them into gorgeous views, using locations throughout the Blue Hill Peninsula as their inspiration. Finished works will be brought to the Library in the early afternoon, when the library will be transformed into a gigantic art gallery.
Last year’s Paint the Peninsula raised more than $10,000 for the library and featured works for all budgets from a diverse range of Blue Hill Peninsula artists.
The reception will feature refreshments and piano jazz by Scott Cleveland. Winning bids will be announced at the end of the evening and the works may be taken home right away. Artists will donate a minimum of 50 percent of their proceeds to the Blue Hill Public Library.
