HALLOWELL, Maine — Maine Association of Interdependent Neighborhoods (M.A.I.N.) is pleased to announce that we voted to have Joseph M Baldacci to receive our first Outstanding Community Dedication Award. Mr. Baldacci will be presented this award in person on October 30, 2013 at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor, during the Odlin Road Bus Rt. Fundraiser .
We have created the Outstanding Community Dedication Award as a way to recognize individuals or groups throughout Maine communities that are working towards helping effect positive change or opportunities for low to moderate income people in their neighborhoods.
Maine Association of Interdependent Neighborhoods (M.A.I.N.) is a all-volunteer organization that was formed in Dec 1980 to create a statewide voice for low income concerns. The current leadership team is comprised of Kandie Desell of Garland and Rachel Ridenour of Eustis.
We are a coalition of people with low to moderate incomes and other concerned individuals and organizations, working together to gain control of our living conditions.
We advocate for common needs. Share resources to support one another, and work together to gain economic human rights. We encourage others to learn about and get involved in the public policy decisions that effects our lives.
While we know the vital importance of bringing voices to the State House , we also want to acknowledge that we know how valued their contributions in their own neighborhoods and communities are. We are hoping the creation of the Outstanding Community Dedication Award will help us recognize many of our neighbors in the future.
