OLD TOWN, Maine — Gauvin-Fowler-Tupper-Stairs VFW Post 3381 has announced it will hold a re-dedication ceremony for their Memorial honoring Veterans, MIA’s and POW’s at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20.
The memorial recently was moved from its former location on Water Street in Old Town, to its new location across from the VFW on 173 Main St. in Old Town. Dirigo Slip Form owned by Jay Shorette donated its time and resources to make this move possible. The City of Old Town donated the space it currently occupies.
“This all would not have been possible without the support we’ve received from the community” states Frank Seavey, the current Commander of VFW Post 3381. “Jay Shorette and the City of Old Town have been absolutely instrumental in helping us with this move and we are so grateful.”
The ceremony will include Raising Colors, as well as Zeny Robbins performing the National Anthem. John Pearson representing Senator Susan Collins office will be in attendance to read a letter from Senator Collins. Also expected are Representative Jim Dill from Old Town, and Susan Cerini representing Congressman Mike Michaud’s office.
An open house celebration will follow the ceremony. Food and refreshments will be served. The public is invited to the ceremony and the open house celebration where they can learn more about the VFW and talk to representatives on how they can become a part of the organization.
