BLUE HILL, Maine — Blue Hill’s New Surry Theatre is holding open auditions for its summer musical “The Music Man.” There are l ots of songs, dances, and loads of fun for the entire cast.Directed by Bill Raiten, who brought you “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Annie,” “Carousel,” “The Fantasticks,” “Oliver!” and many, many other musicals over the years is working with longtime Musical Director Sheldon Bisberg and Choreographer Maureen Robinson of the Robinson Ballet.
Join them for a summer filled with fun and music! Auditions are at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, with callbacks (and auditions for those that cannot come on the 27th) at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, at the Blue Hill Town Hall Theatre. Rehearsals for the play will be on weekends only.
There will be 10 performances on July 25, 26, 27 and Aug. 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, and 10, in Blue Hill.
Bill, Sheldon and Maureen ARE LOOKING FOR ALL AGES of actors and actresses willing to act, sing and dance to win the hearts of the excited audience members that come to see them. They especially are looking for singers to form a barber shop quartet and a Harold Hill to charm the socks off the denizens of River City, Iowa.
Music Man was a tremendous hit on Broadway, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and running for 1,375 performances. The cast album won the first Grammy Award for “Best Original Cast Album” and was number one on the Billboard charts for 245 weeks.
