OAKLAND, Maine — Sandra Healy Swallow was honored at a reception held at the Waterville Country Club in Oakland as the new state regent of the Maine State Organization of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Swallow was elected a the state DAR Spring Conference in March in Lewiston, and recently was sworn in at the 122nd Continental Congress in Washington, D.C.
DAR is a service, lineage organization whose purpose is to promote good citizenship through education, historic preservation and patriotic endeavor.

Each administration chooses to raise funds for one special project. The Swallow Administration has decided to upgrade the Maine State Organization Garden located in the Viles Arboretum in Augusta, ME. Added to the garden will be new trees, historical shrubs and larger signage.
The Maine State Organization was organized February 1898. Currently there are 23 chapters located from York to Machias. For more information http://www.mainedar.org/ The next meeting of MSODAR will be the Fall Meeting at the Senator Hotel in Augusta, ME on November 2 & 3, 2013.
The new State Regent has been a member of DAR for many years, serving at the local, State and National Level. She resides in Harpswell, ME. She and her mother, Barbara Healy, who organized the reception, are both active in the Ft. Halifax Chapter in Winslow.
Not surprisingly, Mrs. Swallow chose two swallows gathering nesting materials as her logo. It signifies her goal for the 2013-2016 Administration “Teamwork for Success”. And her scripture comes from Proverbs 11:14 “Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in abundance of counselors there is safety.”
