JEFFERSON, Maine — Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson will host its second annual Race Through the Woods half marathon trail race at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.
Race sponsors are Liberty Graphics, Key Bank, Ames Supply, Wiscasset Ford and Lamey-Wellehan Shoes, as well as many other donors and volunteers.
Last year’s runners were challenged by an early snow fall, but as the winner, 20-year-old Eric Mauricette of Old Town said, “This is the best race ever! I was concerned about the conditions but what fun to run in snow.”
Along the 13.2 mile route many volunteers will be stationed to direct runners.
Entry fee is $40, free to HVNC members. Runners will enjoy hot food around the fire pit after the race. Proceeds will support the maintenance of HVNC trails and educational programs.
