Mustache institute seeks votes for honor of holding ‘bash’ in Portland

PORTLAND, Maine — The American Mustache Institute is seeking a host city for its annual charity event, Stache Bash. Portland, the home of the New England Bureau of the American Mustache Institute, is in the running to win the honor of hosting the bash.

Dr. Lou Jacobs, director of the New England Bureau of the Institute said the Stache Bash attracts celebrities and visitors from all over the country. In addition, the city that hosts Stache Bash 2012 gets to choose a local charity to be the beneficiary of the event. Jacobs said he will select The Center For Grieving Children in Portland to benefit from the event.

The 2012 host city will be chosen by popular vote for the AMI Chapter of the Year. The winner will be announced Tuesday, Sept. 4, the same day nominations open for the Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year award. The winner of that award will be announced at ‘Stache Bash.
