THOMASTON, Maine — The Thomaston 4th of July committee announced that Mr. and Ms. Independence Day 2012 will be Nathaniel “Nate” Boggs and Tamra Wallace, recent graduates Oceanside High School. They were chosen by the school faculty based on grades, activities, leadership, community involvement and positive outlook.
Tamra Wallace is the daughter of Lindy Wallace and Kevin Kaler of Thomaston. Graduating high school as Salutatorian, she was involved in student government, including student body president for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years. She was a member of the National Honor Society and played four years of
varsity softball. She participated in musicals, band and chorus throughout high school. Currently working summers at Megunticook Golf Club, she will be attend the University of Maine in the fall to study secondary education.
Nathaniel “Nate” Boggs is the son of Jeffery and Melissa Boggs. Throughout high school, he played a vital role in many organizations, including as class president, National Honor Society, varsity soccer, lieutenant governor of Division 4 of the New England Board of Key Clubs, musicals, award-winning one act productions, varsity tennis, and many other activities. He plans to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology to study architecture.
Wallace and Boggs will ride in the 2012 Thomaston Independence Day parade which starts at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 4. The parade will be followed by a full day of activities in Thomaston. The traditional fireworks display will take place at 9:15 p.m. Rain date for the fireworks is July 5.
