Miss Maine Scholarship Program announces new director

Rebecca Beck of Brunswick is the new director of the Miss Maine Scholarship Program.

BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Miss Maine Scholarship Program, a nonprofit all-volunteer program, announced that Rebecca Beck of Brunswick will be the director of the Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen Program.

Beck, who held the title Miss Maine 1982, is owner of Studio 48 Performing Arts Center in Brunswick and Studio 48 Dance Studio in Topsham.  She is founder and president of New England Regional Theater Company, a nonprofit youth theater program in Brunswick.

Beck received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music and has studied privately at Juilliard with world famous Metropolitan Opera singer Eleanor Steber.  She was the first vocalist from Maine to attend Tanglewood in the young vocalist program.  Having soloed with many symphony orchestras, she has also starred in several operas and theater productions along the East Coast.  She dedicates her time volunteering or developing programs in the community to help children with special needs, and directing programs for the gifted and talented.
