DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — Mayo Regional Hospital has scheduled its annual Patient Appreciation Day for 7 a.m. -3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the main lobby.
Visitors to Mayo on that day will be provided with free refreshments and healthy snacks, have the opportunity to sign up for a raffle drawing of Chamber Bucks and YMCA passes, get a free blood pressure screening, and receive information on wellness, nutrition and diabetes care. Representatives will be on hand from the Eastern Agency on Aging to provide information on services for the elderly.
In addition to activities in the hospital lobby, the Oct. 2 event will include a free Brown Bag Medication Checkup in Mayo’s Resource Center conference rooms at the rear of the hospital from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Anyone taking multiple medications can put those medications into a brown bag and bring them to the checkup area for a free, confidential consultation with a local pharmacist. The pharmacist will provide a professional evaluation of prescription medications, over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements, give tips for safe and effective medication use, and answer questions about medications.
The event will also provide a safe, secure means for disposal of expired and no longer used medications, through the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department’s drug disposal box.
Contact John Chase, RN, at 207-564-4236, or Nancy Davis, 207-564-4158, for more information on the Brown Bag Medication Checkup.
