NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine — Maine Wood Products Association will hold its 2014 annual meeting Thursday, Jan.9, at Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. The daylong meeting will include manufacturing tours of Washburn & Doughty Shipyard as well as guided tours of the Maine Maritime Museum, the Percy Small Shipyard and the Wooden Boat Shop. This meeting is a great opportunity for networking with wood products manufacturing company managers from across the state.
Past MWPA annual meetings have included presentations by industry experts from across the country, and this year will feature:
Cary Weston, Partner Sutherland Weston Marketing and Communications. “From Volume to Value – Marketing Wood Products in the Digital Age” How companies rooted in a traditional industry can position themselves to compete and grow in a changing global market place.
Jane Garland, Safety Works – Maine Dept. of Labor. “How Can the SHARP Program Help Your Business” The On-site Consultation Program’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) recognizes small business employers who operate an exemplary injury and illness prevention program.
Doug Fletcher, President of family owned Maine Wood Concepts. “From Humble Beginnings to Current Success. A Brief History of Maine Wood Concepts”. Success – What it looks like, the tools necessary to achieve it, and how you know when you’ve arrived.
The meeting is open to anyone interested in the wood products manufacturing industry. Seating is limited and there is a $50 registration fee which covers the entire day’s events including meals and the evening social hour.
