Maine Film Office hires Bangor woman as new director

AUGUSTA, Maine  – The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development announced that Karen Carberry Warhola of Bangor has been hired as director of the Maine Film Office.  In her new position, she will be responsible for marketing Maine as a site for all forms of production, from feature films to catalog shoots.  She also will assist with projects as the liaison between communities, other state departments and production companies.

Carberry Warhola has more than 20 years of hands-on production experience in the film and television industry.  She started her television career as a camera operator at MPBN-TV.  She later worked for two years as a freelancer at Buena Vista, a division of The Walt Disney Company before joining the staff in Burbank, Calif., for an additional eight years.  She later returned to the studio lot and managed Touchstone Television’s Prime Time Awards and their Emmy Awards campaign.

Carberry Warhola received a bachelor’s  degree in political science from the University of Maine, where she earned membership in both Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Sigma Alpha honor societies and became a Presidential Achievement Pin recipient.
