LEWISTON, Maine — Recently, Maine Community Health Options and Maine Medical Center Physician-Hospital Organization announced a collaborative partnership to provide people with comprehensive, patient-centered care.
“We are pleased to enter into this key partnership, which represents and reflects the style in which MCHO has approached its network development: a collaborative model that is a launching pad for innovation and payment reform,” stated Kevin Lewis, CEO of MCHO, in a press release. “The MMC-PHO brings valued clinical outcomes and vital community relationships necessary to the purpose of MCHO.”
“We are thrilled to be working with Maine Community Health Options to offer the people of Maine collaborative, competitive healthcare options,” said Dr. Jeff Aalberg, chief medical officer for MMC PHO, in a press statement. “Agreements such as this one ensure that our patients are receiving the best possible care at a lower cost.”
“Together we seek improved health outcomes at lower total costs, improved access to care with a focus on local care integration, and support for community resources that promote the health and wellbeing of our members,” Lewis mentioned.
The MMC PHO is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1994. Through its collaboration with the Community Physicians of Maine, the MMC PHO/MCHO partnership will create a network that includes more than 1,000 hospital and practice physicians associated with MaineHealth, Maine Medical Center, Southern Maine Medical Center, Goodall Hospital, Western Maine Health, Waldo County Healthcare, Pen Bay Healthcare and Lincoln County Healthcare.
The MMC PHO staff works with practices across the state on administrative and clinical projects, such as contracting, quality measures, care management, and implementation of best practices, with the goal of supporting the delivery of high quality, cost effective healthcare to our communities.
