The top three winners in each grade for both categories, written review or original illustration, received a gift certificate from Gulf of Maine Books in Brunswick. This year, the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands cosponsored the contest by offering one-day family park passes to the top three winners in each grade category.

The Read, Write and Win contest in Maine involved students from 10 grades in five area schools, as well as students who are schooled at home. The contest is open to all students in the U.S., grades 3 through 12. Participants select a book from the Cornerstones of Science collection found in their local library, write a review and/or draw an illustration, and submit their work to a distinguished team of judges.
