Libraries to sponsor talk about Verdi’s ‘Otello’

BLUE HILL, Maine — Composer Giusseppe Verdi’s “Otello” will come to the Grand in Ellsworth at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, by live simulcast from the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

To help music lovers prepare for the event, the Bagaduce Music Lending Library and Friends of the Blue Hill Public Library will introduce and study “Otello” at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in the Howard Room of the Blue Hill Public Library.

Local opera enthusiasts Linda Lesko and David Porter will summarize the plot, introduce the music and offer ideas for special ways to enjoy the simulcast.

The session is open to all and no previous opera knowledge is needed. Admission is free. For information, call the library at 207-374-5515.
