Kingfield Artwalk

KINGFIELD, Maine — To help kick-off a weekend full of art, music and celebration, the galleries, museums and art venues of Kingfield will open their doors to the public for a Friday Artwalk 5-8 p.m. June 29, the evening of Kingfield POPS weekend.

Venues will feature paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, weaving, jewelry, glasswork and other craft and fine art.  Free refreshments are served at each venue. Thanks to the Kingfield POPS and a grant from the Maine Community Fund, three of Maine’s finest musical families will be performing live music: the Schoolhouse Gallery will host the Gawler Family, the Mountain Village Farm will present Mali and Tom Obomsawin, and Ellie and Andy Buckland will play at Grand Central Station.  Artwalkers may be dancing in the streets!

Artwalk will honor long-time contributions of Ulrike Stadler to Kingfield’s art scene which will be on display in locations around town, and she intends on re-opening her gallery for the evening.

Artists featured this month include multimedia artist Penny Hall presenting creative clay sculptures and Providence, RI clay artist, Cali Almy showing a collection of utility pieces at the Farm Cottage Gallery, Kingfield’s own Dorrie Greta Robinson (pen and ink) and Alex Dunham (glasswork) as well as Strong’s Randy Walker (pencil), New Vineyard’s Jim Albert (stonework) and Melissa Ruel’s leatherworks will be displayed at Grand Central Station, Danielle London’s photography and Saskia Reinholt’s paintings grace walls at The Herbert Grand Hotel and paintings by Kitty Cole Jones and Patty Ritzo will be on display at Scensations. The custom woodworking and restored antiques of Ken Rand will be at CSM Real Estate.  John & Cynthia Orcutt’s new photographic exhibit “Deer Park Lodge, Historic Camp on Richardson Lake” opens on June 29 at The Schoolhouse Gallery and the Reinholt Gallery and Western Maine Collaborative will feature the work of 26 local artisans, including new mountain landscape paintings bySaskia Reinholt, nature photographs by Becky Sweeney, iron work by Bill Sweeney, and multi-media sculptures by Rama Brown.

There will be two new venues added to Artwalk this month! The Kingfield Public Library will feature the acrylic paintings of Barbara Stewart and there are future plans to feature book and poetry readings.  The Masonic Lodge will also open their doors for Artwalk featuring tours of their facilities and display of more creative talents from the area.  As always, both Kingfield museums, The Ski Museum of Maine and the Stanley Museum will be open during Artwalk, each featuring exhibits from their vast collections.

The POPS Friday Artwalk is the opening to a weekend that continues on Saturday with the Festival of the Arts (artisans and live music all day) and the Kingfield POPS concert featuring Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.  Look for the flying red flags by the front door.  For more info find us on Facebook or call Cynthia Orcutt at 207 939 6518.
