WINTER HARBOR, Maine — The SERC Institute will join thousands of people across the country who participate in the largest and longest-running citizen science project, counting birds for the Audubon Christmas Bird Count Tuesday, Jan. 1.
Count compiler Bill Townsend and Schoodic Bird Ecology Lab Director Seth Benz will host a brief count strategy session on 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Moore Auditorium on the SERC campus.
Participants identify and count every bird they see inside their circle using an organized strategy determined by the count circle leader.
To take part in the bird count, contact Benz at firstname.lastname@example.org or 207-288-1320. Participation is free, with donations accepted for refreshments.
