BANGOR, Maine — Organizers said Downtown Bangor is getting dressed up for the holiday season. Business owners are decorating their storefronts for the downtown decoration contest, banners will be hung, decorations will be posted on the light poles and holiday lights are being placed in West Market Square.
One of the most anticipated decorations of all is the Holiday Tree, grown and donated by Sprague’s Nursery. The tree will be delivered to West Market Square at 9 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 27.
The Downtown Bangor Partnership will host Santa’s Workshop noon-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Bagel Central, 33 Central St. Grownups are invited to bring a camera to record their child’s visit with Santa. There is no cost. Cookie decorating will take place throughout the event, while supplies last.
Bring the family to the Art Factory 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the University of Maine Museum of Art fifth annual holiday art-making event. Hands-on art stations will provide parents and children an opportunity to reate a card, ornament or gift. Admission is free, supplies will be provided and instruction will be given throughout the day.
Festival of Light’s Parade, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bangor will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, on Main Street.
