Historical Society Lecture

The Orono Historical Society invites the public to attend a lecture by Roxanne Saucier titled “Let’s Figure Out Those Cousins.” It will be held Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m. at the Orono Town Council Chambers, 59 Main Street, Orono.

Roxanne Moore Saucier, a native of Sangerville and Abbot, has been researching her family history for 35 years. She started the Family Ties column in the Bangor Daily News in 1984, and restarted it in 1999. Her particular interests are Maine genealogy and Franco-American genealogy. The Maine Genealogical Society in 2005 presented her with an award for a “lifetime of genealogical contributions.”

A graduate of the University of Maine, Roxanne considers it a privilege to inspire others to wonder about their family history, and enjoys sharing what she has learned. She and husband Gaelen have two grown sons and five grandchildren, whose ancestry ranges from Pilgrims to Penobscots. She is a life member of the Maine Genealogical Society and state parliamentarian for the Maine Daughters of the American Revolution.

She enjoys talking about cousins, and is particularly proud of the 45 genes she shares with Vice President Hannibal Hamlin. We hope you can join us for this free event. Refreshments will be served.
