BANGOR, Maine — Hilltop School, an early childhood education program located at 218 Ohio St. in Bangor, is celebrating the Week of the Young Child with a mystery reader program. The program will take place the week of April 15-19.
The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The children will hear a story read by a mystery reader each day and at the end of the week receive a gift book. The list of mystery readers will include local businessmen, politicians, and authors as well as family members.
Reading aloud to children builds a life long interest in reading and helps to develop language and speech as well as creativity and imagination. If you are interested in being a mystery reader or making a donation of children’s books, please contact Stacy Shaffer at 945-3705.
