Gifford’s Ice Cream will Close 2013 Summer Stand Season with Annual “Buy One, Get One Free” Promotion

Gifford’s Ice Cream will bring its 2013 ice cream stand season to a close with a Buy One, Get One Free Weekend at all five of its Maine stands on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12 and 13.

Every item on the menu is included in the promotion, including this season’s popular Adventure Series Sampler of six Gifford’s flavors. Packed quarts, 1/2 gallons and three gallon tubs are also part of the promotion.

Gifford’s operates seasonal ice cream stands in Auburn, Bangor, Farmington, Skowhegan and Waterville. Each stand will offer the buy one, get one free promotion on noon-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, and noon until the ice cream runs out on Sunday, Oct. 13.

Mini-golf games at the Skowhegan and Waterville stands are buy one, get one free. The courses will be open from noon to 8 p.m .Saturday and until 3 p.m. Sunday.

“We’ll catch our breath and begin working on plans for next year,” said General Manager Lindsay Gifford-Skilling. “This has been a great year for Gifford’s, and we know 2014 will be even better.”

In 2013, the Boston Globe named Gifford’s Maine’s best ice cream in its roundup of New England summer foods, respected food blog called Gifford’s one of the best store bought ice creams, and visitors to the 11th annual New Jersey Ice Cream Festival honored Gifford’s with a first-place people’s choice award.

Gifford’s also was named Ice Cream Grand Champion at the prestigious World Dairy Expo. This is the fourth consecutive year Gifford’s has won the overall ice cream prize at North America’s leading dairy competition.
