ORONO, Maine — The Friends of Dr. Edith Marion Patch will host a presentation, “Rachel Carson and the Freeman family,” given by Stan Freeman of Orono at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Dirigo Pines Media Room on the second floor of the inn.
Rachel Carson was a mid-20th century biologist, naturalist, conservationist, and author of “Silent Spring” published in 1962, and who lived on Southport Island, Maine, for the last 10 years of her life.
Freeman will share narratives, photos and memorabilia of his family’s close relationship with Carson, who was a neighbor at their summer residence on Southport Island.
Refreshments will be provided. The event is free.
