FREEDOM, Maine — Freedom’s Bicentennial celebration kicked off Friday evening with speakers and fireworks, and will continue with activities for the community on Saturday, July 6.
Highlights of the celebration include a parade at 10 a.m., dedication of a gazebo, bands, fire department barbecue and church supper.
Other activities include a farmers market, crafts and exhibits, a horseshoe tournament, auto show, wagon and boat rides, children’s games, frog jumping contest, pie baking contest, softball game, flint firearms demonstration, beano and various displays.
Also on Saturday, Dirigo Grange will offer a presentation on “Freedom: Then and Now” at 6:30 p.m. and a contra dance with the Jon McIntyre Band 7-9 p.m.
