BANGOR, Maine — MaineStream Finance, a subsidiary of Penquis, is offering a free Business 101 workshop for anyone interested in knowing more about starting a business.

The two hour workshop will be offered at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 and Thursday, Sept. 6,  at Penquis, 50 North St., Dover-Foxcroft. It is also being offered at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, and Wednesday, Sept. 5,  at Penquis, 262 Harlow St., Bangor.

The workshop provides an overview of the pros and cons of operating a small business, including the basics of a business plan, the importance of networking, creating and managing a budget, available resources for business development and understanding credit.
