AUGUSTA, Maine — Members of the Maine National Guard’s 11th Civil Support Team dedicated a memorial plaque at their Waterville armory in the memory of one of their original team members, Maine Air National Guard Master Sgt. Michael K. Hross on Friday, Oct. 26.
Hross, a Vietnam veteran and retired New York City Police Officer, rejoined the military in June of 2000 and was an original member of the 11th Civil Support Team. As a non-commissioned officer in the new unit, Hross was a consummate professional whose years of experience both in the military and police communities made him an invaluable asset in the early years of the Civil Support Team.
Hross passed away on August 15, 2005 and left behind his wife Patricia and his four sons Brian, Ryan, Matthew and Michael. Hross’s family, friends and former unit members gathered together to celebrate his life and dedicate the memorial plaque that will remain on display at the Civil Support Team’s armory.
