BANGOR, Maine – The 2012 Fireball Run Adventurally will conclude Saturday afternoon, Sept. 29, when 40 teams cross the finish line in Bangor, Maine. Saturday will be the culmination of the eight-day, 2,500 mile race that will have taken teams through seven states. Members of the public are invited and encouraged to visit downtown Bangor on Saturday afternoon to cheer on the teams as they approach the finish line, see some of the impressive cars that took part in the race up close, and attend a final parade featuring all 40 team cars and a few surprises.
Fireball Run Adventurally is a life-sized board game, an interactive adventure series where teams solve several clues daily in order to navigate the route, locate points of interest and score. Team Bangor Riverdrivers is made up of “Timber” Tina Scheer of The Great Maine Lumberjack Show and Maine Office of Tourism Director Carolann Ouelette. The Bangor Riverdrivers have been competing against 39 other teams navigating the route and score, using everything and everyone at their disposal to solve clues and accomplish missions based on northern history, geography, and pop culture.
On Saturday, the 40 teams are expected to roll into Bangor in the early afternoon to participate in seven secret missions around Bangor. Once the Adventurally is finished, the 40 cars along with the Air National Guard Honor Guard, the Hermon Pan Band, The Anah Funsters and many others will lead a parade at 5 p.m. down Main Street. At the conclusion of the parade all 40 teams will be available for members of the public to view and take pictures, parked along the lower part of State Street in Downtown Bangor.
The teams are in Waterbury, CT today, Sept. 27, and will be in Ogunquit, Maine, on Friday, Sept. 28. Live streaming of the Fireball Run Adventurally can be viewed at www.fireballrun.com
