This year’s ArtfullGifts Holiday Show, to take place November 16-18 at Northport’s Point Lookout Resort overlooking Penobscot Bay, will be bigger than ever.
In addition to showcasing the beautiful work of 50 exceptional artists and artisans from all over Maine and New Hampshire, this year’s festive marketplace will also give show goers the chance to sample the delectable products of local food purveyors and meet several prominent Maine authors. Again this year, admission fees will benefit Coastal Mountain Land Trust (www.coastalmountains.org).
The artisans, who were invited to participate based on the premier quality of their work, will be offering a wide selection of jewelry in many mediums, pottery, hand-crafted wooden furniture, fine art prints, drawings, mixed media paintings, quilts, sculpture (stone, metal, and clay), photography, wearable textiles, Maine-made candles, stained glass, floral art, and bird carvings.
For the first time this year, the ArtfullGifts Show will also put the spotlight on local authors, who will give informal readings and be happy to autograph their books with personal inscriptions. Participating authors will include novelists Vicki Doudera and Elizabeth Hand.
A Cocktail Gala on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. will kick off the weekend and provide the first opportunity to meet the vendors and make selections from their full array of merchandise. Adding to the atmosphere will be live jazz by Chris Poulin’s Shades of Blue, a cash bar, and complimentary nibbles provided by Crazy Dick’s Cajun Foods, Fiore, Oyster Creek Mushrooms, Atlantic Bakery, Belfast Coop, Ducktrap Seafoods, Fresh Restaurant, Gelato Fiasco, State of Maine Cheese, Thorndike Creamery, and many other treats from select fine Maine food purveyors. The evening provides a perfect time to socialize with others who believe in buying locally created fine art, craft, and foods while supporting a local charity. Friday night admission is $10.
The show continues on Saturday and Sunday, November 17 and 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Admission on Saturday and Sunday is $3.
“We are so pleased to provide this opportunity to shop for unique gifts, all finely hand-crafted by New England artists,” says show director Randy Fein, who will also be exhibiting her ceramic pieces. “And we are very excited to include some of our outstanding local authors and food purveyors this year for the first time. The ArtfullGifts Show is a wonderful place to find special treasures to give or to keep, all while supporting the local creative economy.”
Point Lookout Resort is located right on Route 1, half way between Camden and Belfast. For a full list of artists, food artisans, and authors, visit artfullgifts.com or facebook.com/ArtFullGifts, or contact the show director, Randy Fein, at email@example.com.
