BANGOR, Maine – Hip and knee pain can make it difficult for people who suffer from joint problems to do the things they love. Eastern Maine Medical Center is holding a free seminar at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 23, in Bangor, to help those who are considering hip or knee replacement surgery become familiar with their options, understand the joint replacement process, and ask questions.
Orthopaedic Surgeons, a physical therapist, an anesthesiologist, a nurse care manager, orthopaedic nurses, and other healthcare professionals will share information about EMMC’s team approach to pain management, the recovery process, the hospital stay, treatment alternatives, and other topics related to joint replacement. Those who attend will receive a detailed packet of information to take home.
“We regularly hear from people who have trouble playing with their grandchildren, going for a walk, or taking a vacation because of joint pain,” said Angela Wheelden, RN, BSN, ONC, nurse coordinator for EMMC Total Joint Care, in a press statement. “We want to provide helpful information and take the time to answer questions that people may not have had an opportunity to ask until now.”
