ORONO, Maine — Lois Main Templeton stands maybe 5’ 2”, but many of her artworks are nearly twice as tall as her. Lois lets the canvas talk to her and if she gets stuck she relies on books, poems, nature or anything in life to help re-motivate her to complete the painting.
“I get my inspiration when I get my hands on the material, something like a mechanic with a car or a sculptor with the stone,” said Templeton. “I’m not an intellectual artist, I’m more physical. For me it’s more like playing basketball than playing chess.”
The public is invited to a showing of Templetons’ recently completed paintings 4-6 p.m. Monday, July 30, in the Kenduskeag Gathering Place, Dirigo Pines Inn. Light refreshments will be served.
