AUGUSTA, Maine — Canadian Lt. Gen. Alain Parent, Deputy Commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) visited the 101st Air Refueling Wing (ARW) in Bangor on Dec. 4.
Gen. Parent received a brief and took a tour of the base and facilities. The 101st provides refueling support for NORAD missions. Parent’s visit included a tour of the new state of the art maintenance hangar where he observed a landing gear operational checkout.
NORAD is a U.S.-Canadian command responsible for defending the skies over both countries. It also monitors sea traffic approaching their shores. Its headquarters are at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
