PORTLAND, Maine — Horace Horton, president of the Pine Tree Council, Boy Scouts of America, which serves the southern 10 counties of Maine, has announced that Dead River Co. and President and CEO Robert Moore, will serve as the honorees for the council’s 36th annual Distinguished Citizen’s Award Dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The dinner is the primary annual fundraiser for the Pine Tree Council, providing support for scouting activities throughout the year.

According to Eric Tarbox, Pine Tree Council Scout Executive, “The funds received in this campaign will assist with the services provided to the packs, troops, and venture crews in our State.” Training for adult leaders, district Cub and Scout activities, Scouting for Food Good Turn Project, camping programs, and Camperships are but a few of the activities and services provided to the southern ten counties of Maine. “Dead River Company is a values-driven corporation that gives back to the communities it serves. From the family ownership to the employees on the front line, Dead River Company, under the strong and compassionate leadership of Bob Moore exemplifies distinguished citizenship, said Horton.

The fundraising goal for this year’s dinner is $200,000. Horace Horton and the Council Executive Board are recruiting the very best volunteer community leaders to assist in reaching that goal for the benefit of Scouting.
