WATERVILLE, Maine — Silence Howard Hayden Chapter, Maine State Organization, Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Weathervane Restaurant, 220 Kennedy Memorial Drive, Waterville.
At 1 p.m., Good Citizen Awards will be presented to Abby Stevens from Fort Kent Community High School, Sarah Ringer from Waterville High School and Carla Halvoson from Easton Senior High School in Easton. Each will receive a Good Citizen Medal.
The DAR Good Citizens contest is open to all senior class students enrolled in accredited public or private secondary schools. It consists of two parts. Part I Personal (70%) consists of the student describing how he/she has tried to manifest the qualities of a good citizen. Part II Essay (30%) is administered under the supervision of a faculty or DAR member. It must be completed at one sitting, within a two-hour time limit, and without assistance or reference materials.
