BREWER, Maine — Classic cars of all ages, new and old, domestics and imports, will be on display at the fifth Annual Charity Car Show 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Maine Oxy outlet, 131 Robertson Boulevard. Admission is free. The event will include food and music. A 50/50 drawing will be held at noon.
Cars judged to be among the Best 20 will win trophies along with awards for Best in Show, Best Interior, Most Original, Best Paint and Best Work in Progress. There are no class divisions, and all classic car entries may compete. Registration for classic car owners is from 7-11 a.m. The fee is $8.
Welding equipment also will be auctioned at the show with proceeds going to Camp CaPella in Dedham, Maine.
“We have had fun putting on this show since the summer of 2008 when Camp CaPella reopened, and we’re happy to make our contribution,” said Josh Richardson, who does outside sales at Maine Oxy. “It’s also a great showcase for state-of-the-art welding skills as well.”
“The people from Maine Oxy have been contributing their time and effort to Camp CaPella for the past four years,” said Dana Mosher, executive director of the camp which provides quality-of-life experiences for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities and their families. “In addition to working on projects and cleanups at camp, the Maine Oxy team built an underwater ramp on our Phillips Lake campground so people in wheelchairs can get in the water, plus they built special, engraved picnic tables for the camp and an 85-foot wheelchair ramp to the bunkhouse, and more.”
“A Maine Oxy car show and Camp CaPella kids – always a great combination!” Richardson said.
“And next week there will be another fundraiser for CampCaPella, the Touch-A-Truck Fair at the Cole Land Transportation on Aug. 11,” Mosher said.
