Church to host Baroque music concert

BUCKSPORT, Maine — Soprano Catharine Cloutier will join The Somerset Consort in an evening of Baroque music at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the Elm Street Congregational Church. Part of the church’s 2012 concert series, the program will include music of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Loeillet and Roman.

A resident of Liberty and a former Mt. View Chamber Singer, Cloutier is a music education major with a vocal concentration at the University of Maine.

Somerset Consort members are Diana Brooks Brown, flute; Lorna S. Russell, viola de gamba; and Carlton T. Russell, harpsichord and organ.

Diana Brown teaches flute and voice privately at Waterfall Arts in Belfast. Lorna Russell, also an organist, shares with her husband Carlton the music ministry at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Blue Hill. Carlton Russell is dean of the Bangor Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and a director of the St. John’s Organ Society in Bangor.
