PORTLAND, Maine – The indie-pop band fun., with smash hits “We Are Young” and “Some Nights,” will donate the proceeds of an Oct. 31 concert in Portland to Mainers United for Marriage.
The concert, scheduled for the State Theatre, follows a 16-country European tour that featured stops in Amsterdam, Berlin, Lisbon, London, Paris and Madrid.
“The Halloween concert, just six days before the Nov. 6 election, will help to excite people who support allowing same-sex couples to marry and to remind voters – and particularly young voters – what’s at stake,” said Matt McTighe, campaign manger for Mainers United. “We’re grateful for fun.’s support and for their enthusiasm and commitment to winning the freedom to marry.”
The band is comprised of Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff. The band’s first hit, “We Are Young,” reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and on the UK Singles Chart. “Some Nights,” the band’s second hit, also cracked the Top 10 in the United States. The band is also nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards.
