BELFAST, Maine — Beyond the Sea, Old Professors Bookshop, Artisan Books and Bindery and Our Town Belfast will host a Book Festival Friday through Sunday July 27-28. Six bookstores and 21 shops will offer more than 50 literary events across town, including Van Reid and his new Moosepath League book “Moss Farm;” a question and answer session on the U.S. penal system with Margaret Micolichek, executive director of the Restorative Justice Project of Midcoast Maine; Lynn Plourde, author of “Only Cows Allowed” and “Moose, of Course!;” Donn Fendler, author of the Maine classic “Lost on a Mountain in Maine,” and “Lost Trail;” Monica Wood reading and signing her book, “When We Were the Kennedys: A Memoir from Mexico, Maine;” plus talks, signings and tastings of tea, Moxie and whoopie pies with authors Katrina Avila Munichiello, Jim Baumer and Nancy Griffin, respectively.
Added programs will be the Random Acts of Reading — you never know when one will strike. And 10-minute scheduled readings at the “Please Be Seated” artistic seats throughout town such as a reading from Thomas Jefferson’s “Head and Heart” and “Thou Art That” by Joseph Campbell.
