The goal of the drive is to collect 10,000 food items for local food pantries. Each food item donated will be matched with a $1 donation (up to $10,000) thanks to the Maine Community Foundation, United Way of Eastern Maine and private donors. Donations of food may be brought to the Library during business hours in the month of March.
Especially needed are whole grain pastas, healthy soups, canned vegetables and fruits, low sugar cereals, peanut butter and canned tuna and meats. For more information contact the Library at 374-5515 or UMaine Extension at 667-8212.
