Bangor High School earns US News Silver Award, national ranking

BANGOR, Maine – Officials from US News & World Report informed Bangor High School that it earned that publication’s national Silver Award in its ranking of America’s Best High Schools for 2013, according to a press release issued by BHS Principal Paul Butler.

According to the methodology conducted by American Institutes for Research (AIR), BHS ranks in the top 10 percent of national high schools (1,376 of 18,196 schools) based upon a number of achievement factors, including Advanced Placement test access and performance.

Bangor High School is the largest Maine high school to receive a national ranking, and is among Maine’s largest comprehensive high schools, serving more than 1,200 students in grades nine-12, according to the release.
