BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Fire Department will officially christen and launch the new fire boat, Marine 1, at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Dock 5.
While the fireboat is able to use a deck gun and hand lines to extinguish fires on watercraft or at properties along the waterfront, it will also be used for search and rescue as it features an array of state-of-the-art electronics designed to quickly find a person in the water.
The event is open to the public.
